Invitation to contribute to special issue on ‘TRENDS IN CELLULOSIC MATERIALS” in the journal ‘Trends in Carbohydrate Research’ (ISSN 0975-0304)

Cellulose, the most abundant renewable and biodegradable polymer, is the promising feedstock for the production of chemicals for their applications in various industries. The versatility of cellulose has been reevaluated as a useful structural and functional material. The environmental benefits of cellulosics have become even more apparent. Thus, cellulose biomass has significant potential to compete with petroleum-derived technologies in the emerging biobased economy. In this context, this special issue focuses to bring about the most recent developments on cellulosic materials. Contributions in form of original research papers and comprehensive reviews are invited on the topics listed below:
- Chemistry and biochemistry of cellulose derived from conventional and non conventional sources.
- Nanocellulosic technologies
- Processing techniques including fiber functionalization for production of speciality chemicals, composites, etc.
- Characterization techniques
- Properties and applications

Trends in Carbohydrate Research (TCR) is an international scientific journal devoted for promotion and utilization of latest research and developments related to various scientific and technological aspects of carbohydrates. TCR is an endeavor of the Association of Carbohydrate Chemists and Technologists, India (ACCTI, www.accti.in). Founded in 1986, ACCTI provides a common platform, for personnel from the carbohydrate industry on one hand and scientists and technologists working in the field of carbohydrate chemistry in academic and research institutes on the other hand, to exchange ideas, developments and industrial requirements related to carbohydrates. ACCTI, in collaboration with R&D institutes and Universities, through conferences, presents a productive interaction of a wide array of the researchers, technocrats, academicians, industrialists and planners every year. As a commitment to encourage research, education and scientific and technological communication, the ACCTI has initiated two separate awards for excellence in Carbohydrate research for over all contribution in the field of carbohydrate research and also for the best article published in TCR. TCR is a subscribed and peer-reviewed e-journal and it is published quarterly. TCR is abstracted by CAS and other abstracting services. All the volumes are available on the website. For TCR’s Aims and Scope please see: http://www.trendscarbo.com/aims.html.
The manuscript should be prepared in accordance to the guidelines for authors available at http://www.trendscarbo.com/guidelines_author.php. The manuscript should specify “Special Issue- Trends in Cellulosic Materials” on the top right hand side of the first page. All papers will undergo double-blind peer review and should be submitted either online at www.trendscarbo.com by registering and logging in to this website or by email to the Editor – in Chief (sonitcr@gmail.com) or to the Guest Editor (vinay.varshney5@gamil.com).
